Teams gear up for winter break
The Christmas break has arrived for northern Nevada’s high schools. The prep basketball teams at those schools are choosing to use the time away from the classroom in different ways. While some hoop programs are using the down time to get in some extended practice time, others will play a game or two over break.

The Spanish Springs girls basketball team picked up a 58-46 win at Galena Tuesday night ... And it had been a long time coming. It was the Cougars’ first win at GHS in 10 tries and just the Sparks school’s third win ever against Galena in 21 matchups.
