Cougar golfers second at Lakeridge, Reed third
RENO -- The Spanish Springs boys golf team turned in a season-low team total Monday afternoon at Lakeridge Golf Club. Unfortunately for the Cougars, when league rival Reno turned the same trick, it was the RHS squad that took home a tournament title in the final High Desert League tourney of the spring.

The Spanish Springs Cal Ripken League is the thick of its spring season. More than 600 local youths are participating in the annual spring league in this 2013 season. The league schedule runs through the first week of June. Select athletes will then represent the league in all-star tournaments.

Spanish Springs couldn’t beat Carson during its own Spring Break tournament. However, pulling off a league doubleheader sweep Saturday was from a challenge for the Cougars as they won 7-2 and 13-5.
Spanish Springs spanks McQueen, 11-0
Fans won’t see a much faster seven-inning game than the one at Aces Ballpark between Spanish Springs and McQueen Tuesday. However, the Cougars disposed of the Lancers in just about the same amount of time Thursday to complete the series sweep.
Sparks baseball tops Truckee, Lady Railroaders take two
The Sparks High baseball team opened its final series of the regular season Wednesday afternoon, hoping to send its four seniors out in fashion on senior day. Facing off against Mount Rose League foe Truckee, the Railroaders did just that with a 5-2 victory over the Wolverines.
Reno golfers best Spanish Springs, clinch HDL title
The Reno boys golf team clinched an outright High Desert League title by winning the conference's weekly tournament, on its home track, Tuesday at Washoe Golf Course. Reno's 401 team total was 23 strokes better than second-place Spanish Springs' 424. It was the Huskies fourth team win in five league tournaments this spring.

Early in Reed’s Division I North contest at hug Tuesday, the Raiders opened the floodgates. Once the surge of runs continued to mount, there was nothing the Hawks could do to patch up the holes as Reed coasted its way to a 20-0 throttling.
No place like home for former Reed, SSHS softballers
Three years ago Karley Hopkins and Karlyn Jones were key cogs on the road to Spanish Springs securing it’s third state softball title in four years. As the Cougars celebrated their 12-1 championship victory at Nevada’s Hixson Park, the pair of seniors closed one chapter of their softball careers. Now that same field is their new home and the former SSHS standouts are in the midst of their next chapter.
North Valleys stuns Reed softball with seventh-inning rally
Reed pitcher Jackie Sertic had a no-hitter going until the final inning of Monday’s High Desert League softball clash with North Valleys. However, the Panthers picked the right time to get their bats going as the visitors stunned the Raiders, 2-1, earning a series split after dropping the opener 9-0 Friday.
