Dayton football downs Sparks, 42-19
The Sparks High football team found itself in a competitive game in the fourth quarter for the first time this fall. Unfortunately for Sparks, it still could not find a way to steal a win. Dayton tacked on a couple of late fourth-quarter scores and saddled Sparks with a 42-19 loss in a DI-A North League prep football battle.

The Spanish Springs boys soccer team continues to look like a team on a mission. That mission would be a winning a D-I North Region championship and the Cougars are well on their way, remaining the lone unbeaten large school in northern Nevada. Spanish Springs improved to 13-0-2 thanks to a 7-0 road romp at McQueen Wednesday afternoon.

It’s back. ArenOcross, Reno’s original motocross race is returning this year after taking this past year off. The traditional race started in 1991 and has resided in Reno for 23 years.

Reed wins shootout at North Valleys, 59-40
The Reed High football team scored the first eight times it had the ball and was never seriously threatened Friday night en route to keeping its unblemished record intact. The Raiders offense more than made up for any defensive breakdowns, leading the RHS gridders to a 59-40 High Desert League road win at North Valleys.
South Tahoe pulls away in second half to down Sparks
For the first time this fall, the Sparks High football team found itself in contention at halftime. Unfortunately for the Railroaders, they couldn't muster enough offense to hang around and were saddled with a 33-7 road loss at South Tahoe in a Div. I-A North League affair Friday night.
Reed spikers sweep away Hug
The Reed volleyball team did what it should have Thursday night, picking up a High Desert League road sweep over a struggling Hug squad, 25-16, 25-17, 25-21. The Raiders won their third-straight match and improved to 13-8 overall and 7-5 in conference clashes.
