Aces hang on to down Grizzlies
RENO — Cole Gillespie’s three-run homer in the first inning helped stake Reno to a 4-0 lead Wednesday night, and the Aces held on to for a 4-3 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies at Aces Ballpark.
Fresno tops Aces, 5-2
Mark Hallberg and Andy Tracy hit back-to-back homers for the Aces in the seventh inning Tuesday, but that was all the offense Reno could muster against Fresno in a 5-2 loss at Aces Ballpark.
Prep soccer season kicks into action
The Sparks High boys soccer team could not have gotten off to a much better start in Mount Rose League play. The Railroaders rolled to a 10-0 triumph over Dayton in their conference and home opener Tuesday afternoon at SHS.

Tucson outlasts Reno in 15 innings, 4-3

In his first varsity start, all eyes at Reed High were on senior A.J. Silva as Raider fans hoped Silva would carry on the tradition of standout signal callers.
Del Oro destroys Cougars
Spanish Springs football coach Scott Hare he wasn’t afraid to take an early season loss to a quality opponent if it helped his team in the long run. Well….Spanish Springs played a quality opponent early in the year, its season opener. And it took the loss. It will remain to be seen if the Cougars can learn from the defeat and take something positive from it.
Padres top Aces, 6-5
Cole Gillespie drove in two and ran his hitting streak to nine-straight games, but the Tucson Padres came from behind to clip the Reno Aces, 6-5, Friday night at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Reed girls soccer team has earned the right to call itself one of the top programs in the North if not the state. The Raiders won three straight North state titles from 2006-2008 and they have never missed out on a playoff berth over the past 15 years.
