The Spanish Springs High football team did not qualify for postseason play for six straight season from 2003 to 2008. That stretch included the first three seasons under current coach Scott Hare. However, the perception of the Cougars’ gridiron program is changing a bit — from regular season also ran to legitimate contenders — after back-to-back playoff appearances.

No one finished with a better league record than Reed last fall. Despite losing one game and not to either of the teams that also tied the Raiders with a 7-1 mark, Reed had to settle for the third seed in the playoffs.
