Aces drop opener to Sounds, 11-5
Andy Tracy hit his fourth home run in three days for the Aces, but Reno fell into an early hole and couldn’t dig its way out Sunday night, dropping an 11-5 decision to the Nashville Sounds in the series opener at Aces Ballpark.
Piercy sets course record, takes lead at RTO
RENO — Scott Piercy reeled off eight consecutive birdies to post a 28 on the front nine and eagled the 616-yard closing hole to break the course record with an 11-under 61 on Saturday, taking a two-stroke lead after three rounds of the Reno-Tahoe Open.

The Nevada Sagebrush Red, a U-16 boys club soccer team, represented quite well at the U.S. Soccer Club National Cup Championship last week in Boise. In fact, that’s probably an understatement. The squad, comprised of northern Nevada teen standouts, won the elite event.

I remember in 1998, sitting in a press conference/party at an office building on Wells Avenue when promoters announced Reno’s Montreux Golf and Country Club would host a PGA Tour event in the coming year. That was pretty big news at the time and it deserved to be.
