If you've been to a Northern 4A prep football game this fall, you've probably arrived on campus a few minutes before 7:30 p.m., expecting kickoff to follow shortly thereafter. Undoubtedly, you've looked at the watch on your wrist or on your phone around 7:45 p.m. and noticed there still a few minutes left on the scoreboard clock for pre-game warm-ups.
Cougars win North
For the first time in the 10-year history of Spanish Springs High School, the Cougars girls golf team can call itself Northern 4A champions. Better yet, the Cougars made it look easy, blowing away second-place Carson by 30 strokes.

RENO — The Spanish Springs Cougars are trying to stay alive in the High Desert League championship chase, but those hopes took a hit Tuesday at McQueen. Less than a month after shutting out McQueen for a home win, Spanish Springs fell behind in the first half and had to settle for a 2-2 tie on the road against the Lancers.

Cougars win rivalry match
Three weeks ago, the Reed Raiders looked like world beaters in a three-game sweep of cross-town rival Spanish Springs. On Thursday, the Sparks schools switched roles as Spanish Springs swept by Reed 26-24, 25-11, 25-23 in prep volleyball action.
