Normally high schools are happy to have one or two highly successful athletic programs in a school year. For Reed High School, that level of triumph could have gone for just one sports season.
Reed’s Williams wins high jump, 100m hurdles
A day after junior sprinter Adriana Newell got the Reed girls off to a great start at the NIAA 4A State Track and Field Championships, it was sophomore Gabby Williams’ turn to do the same Saturday morning at Damonte Ranch High School.
Reed wins opener at state
The Reed High softball team had gotten plenty of offense all season en route to rolling to a Northern 4A regular season league championship. Unfortunately for the Raiders, that offense eluded it at times in last weekend’s regional tournament.

With all the excitement surrounding the Reed girls track team and what could amount to seven state championship wins, a couple seniors are trying to leave their mark on the boys side for the Blue and Gold.
Reed trio makes college intentions official
A trio of Reed High students made their school proud Wednesday afternoon, putting pen to paper and making their college athletic plans official. Reed seniors Andi Lee, Ryan Butler and Dustin Grant all signed national letters of intent during a signing ceremony in the east Sparks school’s large gym.
Reed ready to bounce back
A week ago, Reed softball coach Jon Wunder said he’d be disappointed if his Raiders did not win last weekend’s regional tournament. After all, the RHS nine had cruised to a 19-1 Northern 4A League mark — three games better than second-place Manogue — and earned the tourney’s top playoff seed.
Raiders softball finally feeling at home
Seven months ago, the plan to build a new, permanent home for the Reed softball team began to come to fruition. While the idea of a ball field on campus had long been pondered, the dream of a Lady Raiders diamond had been a mere illusion until this season.
Nashville tops Reno in series finale, 9-7
NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Reno took a two-run lead into the eighth inning Tuesday afternoon, but a four-run Nashville frame vaulted the Sounds to a 9-7 victory over the Aces in the series finale at Herschel Greer Stadium.
King of the Track
Most people enjoy spending their weekends and the rest of their free time to themselves, doing as they please. For Lynn Mentzer, there’s no other place he’d rather spend his free time than on a track.
Hard racing kicks off Lovelock’s season
After the first race of the year was rained out, the Lovelock Speedway finally got its season started Saturday evening. Near perfect weather set the stage for hard racing and some close finishes.
