The Sparks Railroaders were shut out in the first period of their DI-A North League home game against perennial power Lowry Friday night. And it didn't get much better after that either. Lowry, which has established itself as one of the top programs in northern Nevada, in any classification, showcased that reputation at Sparks, blowing out the Railroaders 57-16.
Grizz get by Cougars, 55-45
The Galena Grizzlies dominated a key four-minute stretch of the third period Tuesday night and it was likely the difference in their DI North crossover league game against Spanish Springs. The end result was a 55-45 home win for Galena that knocked Spanish Springs out of first place in the High Desert League.
Galena shuts down Spanish Springs
For the fourth time this winter the Galena Grizzlies held an opponent to under 30 points. They've won on all four of those occasions. The latest came Tuesday night when Galena pulled out a 37-29 triumph over visiting Spanish Springs in a DI North girls prep basketball league affair.
