Nevada wildfire grows to 3 square miles
A wildfire burning in northern Nevada's Pine Nut Mountains has grown in size to 3 square miles but officials say the threat to about 30 homes has eased as winds pushed the fire toward the east and away from residences.
Police arrest 50 on strip for illegal transactions
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police have arrested 50 people for doing business without a license on the Las Vegas Strip since new rules on illegal transactions were passed this summer. State board OKs pared down capital improvements
CARSON CITY (AP) — The state Public Works Board has approved a pared down capital improvement project wish list for Nevada state agencies. The Nevada Appeal reports the list of 83 projects endorsed Tuesday consists primarily of essential maintenance work. Man accused of several Vegas roulette chip heists
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 57-year-old Las Vegas man faces felony charges in a series of grab-and-run heists involving thousands of dollars worth of casino chips from roulette tables. Records show that William Ferguson has been held at the Clark County jail since Aug. 19 on burglary and theft charges. Victims identified in fatal Douglas County crashes
MINDEN (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol has released the names of four people killed in two separate accidents in Douglas County last weekend. Three people were killed just before midnight Saturday when 21-year-old Matthew Walburg of Reno allowed his 2007 Nissan Frontier to cross into southbound traffic on U.S. 395 near Leviathan Mine Road, about 12 miles south of Gardnerville.
