REMSA president steps down due to health reasons
RENO — The president of REMSA (Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority), Patrick Smith, has announced that he is stepping down from his position due to health issues.
Jim Gubbels, REMSA’s Chief Administrative Officer and second in command at REMSA since 1995, has been named interim president by the non-profit organization’s board of directors. There were no other changes in the management, staff or direction of the organization.
School of Medicine offers free medical clinics in February
RENO — The University of Nevada School of Medicine’s free Student Outreach Clinics for February are scheduled for the following dates: a general clinic will be held Feb. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon, a pediatric clinic will be on Feb. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. and a women’s clinic will take place on Feb. 23 from 8 a.m. to noon.

SPARKS – People from all over the country are set to gather in Sparks for the 2013 Engraving Arts and Firearms Exhibition. Grants available to improve Lake Tahoe water quality
CARSON CITY — The Nevada Division of State Lands (NDSL) has announced available funding from the Lake Tahoe Water Quality and Erosion Control Grants Program to implement Environmental Improvement Program projects on the Nevada side of the Lake Tahoe Basin. This includes water quality and stream environment zone restoration and enhancement projects. Non-state agency applicants must provide a minimum 25 percent matching funds.
