Deputies search for car burglary suspects
Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying suspects in a recent string of vehicle burglaries in the Incline Village area. The same suspects also were seen in the Carson City area attempting to purchase items using stolen credit cards.
Strong-arm robbery in Reno
On Wednesday at about 4:30 p.m., a 15-year-old male victim was walking to a friend’s house when he was approached by the two male suspects in the neighborhood of Villanova Drive and Harvard Way in Reno.
Pedestrian hit by school bus at Fourth St. and Arlington Ave.
At about 6:50 a.m. Monday, Reno police officers responded to the intersection of Fourth Street and Arlington Avenue on a report of a pedestrian versus school bus accident. Upon arrival, officers learned that a 27-year-old female Reno resident was walking westbound across Arlington Avenue when a school bus that had turned southbound onto Arlington from West Fourth Street struck her.
Driver hits pole after having a possible medical event
Reno police officers responded to assist Reno firefighters and medical personnel on scene at East Second Street and Sunshine Lane after a truck hit a light pole. The 69-year-old driver, a resident of Doyle, Calif., suffered a medical event and veered off the road, striking the pole.
No kids hurt in bus accident
On Wednesday at 1:54 p.m., troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a Washoe County School District bus on Mt. Rose Highway near the intersection of Thomas Creek Road.
Trooper hit, hurt while on duty
RENO — A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was injured when an errant driver veered into another patrol vehicle as he investigated a crash Tuesday evening. RENO — The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division arrested a suspect for the theft of furniture from a fully furnished property, which was reported stolen on July 13. Health worker sentenced for medicaid fraud
LAS VEGAS — Angelia Chupa, a 50-year-old Las Vegas resident, was sentenced Thursday for two misdemeanor offenses of submission of false claims. Justice of the Peace William Jansen sentenced her to 90 days in jail, suspended, payment of $7,100 in restitution, penalties and costs and one year probation in this Medicaid fraud case. The case was investigated and prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
