The Washoe County School District will send two bill draft requests to the Nevada Legislature this year in an effort to change teachers’ probationary period from one year to three years and to add the term “gross misconduct” to the language in the Nevada Revised Statutes to the Legislative Counsel Bureau. The requests are due by Sept. 1.
Victorian Square shooting victim dies from injuries
A man who was shot four times during a bar fight in May has died from his wounds. Police said 40-year-old Anthony Pulice and Jerald Rey Costa Jr. were arguing on May 9 at Paddy and Irene’s Irish Pub on Victorian Avenue when Costa pulled out a handgun, shooting Pulice four times in the chest, neck and arm.

RENO — A Sparks refinery that produces a cleaner-burning, more efficient fuel made from a combination of low-sulfur diesel and natural gas has become the first of its kind in Nevada to win approval from state environmental regulators.
