SPARKS — For 25 years of her 32-year teaching career Tammy Higgins has brought her students to the Sparks Museum and Cultural Center. The first-grade teacher feels the museum is an important symbol of community, and a perfect place to teach children about what their community has to offer.
Sparks Senior Center gets facelift
Michelle McDonald inherited about 20 grandparents over the past several months working with senior citizens at the Sparks Senior Citizens Center. SPARKS — It was a man in North Carolina who corrected Patrick Mace when he was in search of some fried pickle chips, telling him ‘frickles’ were common to most restaurants. Mace, then an employee of Lagunitas Brewery in Petaluma, Calif., had the “crazy idea” of selling the fried vegetable on the company’s menu.
