Justin Berg, 18, of Winnemucca, died Monday night after his Jeep rolled on Interstate 80, 30 miles east of Lovelock. Berg’s passenger, 18-year old Patrick Fitzgerald of Winnemucca, was transported to Pershing County General Hospital in Lovelock for non-life threatening injuries.

According to troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, Berg was traveling eastbound when he allowed the vehicle to drift off of the right roadway edge. The Jeep struck a metal marker post, then Berg over-corrected the vehicle’s steering to the left. The vehicle re-entered the roadway and rolled over coming to rest on its wheels blocking the right lane of the highway.

The accident is being investigated by the Major Accident Investigation Team and witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call Trooper Mike Stapledon at 689-4623 regarding case no. NHP-0911161408.
