Traffic stop on Interstate 80 results in cocaine and marijuana possession arrests
A Fernley man and a man from Fairfield, Calif., were found with about 2.5 pounds of cocaine in their car when the Nevada Highway Patrol stopped the pair on Interstate 80 near Mogul Sunday night.
Troopers stopped the car because they said it had no visible registration. Troopers got suspicious and called in a drug sniffing dog from the Reno Police Department. The dog made a positive alert, according to police and the pair was arrested. The cocaine was found along with 476 grams, or about one pound, of marijuana.
Jesus Garcia, 22 of Fernley and his passenger, Alejandro Garcia, 19 of Fairfield, Calif., were booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges of possession of controlled substance-marijuana, possession of controlled substance-cocaine, possession of controlled substance-cocaine for sales, possession of controlled substance-marijuana for sales, trafficking cocaine, possession of paraphernalia and introducing drugs into interstate commerce. Each had a total bail of $81,545.
