On April 16, the Reno Police Department began an investigation into the first in the series of robberies. In the following days, another robbery and an attempted robbery were committed by the same suspect.
The first incident occurred on April 16 at 8:28 p.m. Morse called in an order to Domino’s Pizza and later met with the driver at 840 Gentry Way in Reno. After a brief conversation, Morse allegedly apologized to the driver saying he needed to take care of his family, then pulled out what appeared to be a black handgun and robbed the driver of $150 in cash, credit card slips and the pizza. The handgun is believed to be a BB gun.
On Friday at 4 p.m., Morse allegedly entered Pizza Hut located at 6015 S. Virginia St. in Reno and ordered a pizza. He then left the store, but returned about 10 minutes later and removed what appeared to be a black handgun and demanded money from the employee. The victim gave $38 and the suspect fled.
On Saturday 5:28 p.m., Morse entered Papa Murphy’s Pizza located at 940 W. Moana Lane in Reno. Again, he allegedly produced what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from the employee. The victim declined and Morse fled.
On Monday, the Crime Suppression Team (CST) developed information and soon identified Morse as the suspect. The CST located Morse on Wednesday and contacted him. He submitted to an interview with detectives and was later booked on the listed charges.
Morse was charged with two counts armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery and three unrelated misdemeanor warrants.
