RENO — Cabela’s outfitter store will be the place to be for sporting dog owners and others fond of man’s best friend as the store hosts a series of free seminars on sporting dog training and other pet topics on Saturday and Sunday.
Included in the series of seminars and demonstrations are basic dog first aid, all about training retrievers, introduction to dog obedience and getting your dog ready for the hunting season.
Various product vendors will be on hand to give training advice and talk about dog training aids and collars, including Gregg Tanner from SportDog;Guy Lundgren of Sendero Retrievers will give seminars on training retrievers as well as on general dog obedience; Red Cross-certified instructor Peggy Rew will offer hourly pet first aid tips; Landess Witmers of PetFolio Magazine will be in the store to talk about her publication; and Dan Hannum of the Wild West Shootout, a national bird dog competition in Lovelock, will be at outside the store to talk about that event. Additionally, Gale Dupree of the Nevada Wildlife Federation will give a presentation on Nevada’s sage grouse at 10 a.m. Saturday.
