“It was an honor to have met with Lieutenant Muzychenko,” Reid said. “In each generation, and in every major war, brave Nevadans have fought to keep our country safe. The Silver State is now home to hundreds of thousands of veterans, and I will continue to work to ensure they are properly taken of care of after they serve.”
Muzychenko served in the Navy for 15 years and worked his way up the ranks from an enlisted position to become a Lieutenant. During the Battle of Midway, he served aboard the USS Minneapolis, a heavy cruiser that helped protect the American carriers against Japanese air attack. After leaving the Navy, Muzychenko retired to Sparks.
