SPARKS — Sparks HIgh School was locked down from 9:30 to 11:06 a.m. Friday as Sparks police searched a nearby apartment building for a wanted suspect thought to be armed and dangerous, according to dispatchers.

Police officers locked the school and would not allow anyone to leave the campus as they searched the building.

The suspect had a warrant out for his arrest and police were tipped off that he was nearby the high school, but after checking police were unable to locate the man.

“He was not in the apartment we were told he was in,” the dispatcher said.

After the search, the high school was reopened at 11:06 a.m.
