While the highlight of the day for the Cougars was a hole-in-one by senior Jordan Gilmore on a 136-yard par 3 12th hole, even he was disappointed with his round.

Gilmore finished with a 74 during first-round action of the Nevada 4A State Boys Golf Championship at TPC Las Vegas, but felt like he left a couple strokes on the course.

Tommy McAllister shot a solid round of 81, but unfortunately for Spanish Springs, the rest of the team had difficulty with the course and coach Nick Wirshing said it made for long days for a couple of them.

Matt Beebe had a 96. Matt Perera and Cole Shirley rounded out the scoring with a 99 and 100 respectively. Owen Bartlett’s 107 was not counted.

Because the Cougars are in the bottom three teams with a 450, they will tee off early today in the final round.
