Washoe County Deputies arrested a 21-year-old mother of three Monday for being under the influence of drugs and child endangerment. The woman also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest, deputies said. Her associate was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Early Monday, sheriff’s deputies stopped an unlicensed vehicle that contained five people and an unrestrained 5-month-old child. The mother of the child, Shahida Reed, also known as Sabrina Lemons, was uncooperative with the deputy and refused to give her correct identity.

The deputy determined that she was under the influence of a controlled substance and Reed was taken into custody. Once her identity was determined it was discovered that she has an outstanding warrant out of Reno Municipal Court. Washoe County Child Protective Services (CPS) was contacted to place the child into foster care.

During the booking process, it was discovered that Reed left her 5-year old and 3-year old children unattended in a room where she was staying located in the 100 block of West First Avenue in Sun Valley.

CPS and Deputies responded to that residence to check the welfare of the children. When the owner of the residence was contacted, they were unaware that Reed had left the residence. Deputies discovered drug paraphernalia and a several small bags containing methamphetamine residue located near sleeping children. CPS took the two children and placed them in foster care.

Reed was subsequently charged with four counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of child endangerment/neglect, being under the Influence of Controlled Substance, Failure to Appear and Providing False Identification to Avoid Arrest. Bail is set at $23,200.

It was also learned that one of the passengers in the car, Robert Dale Gilmer, 26, of Reno, had an outstanding warrant out of Reno Justice Court for Failure to Appear. He was arrested and also charged with two counts possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. His bail is set at $1,954.
