Nicholas Phillip Ford, 27, was sought by authorities for being out of compliance with state registration laws. State law requires convicted sex offenders to change their address with local law enforcement within 48 hours of relocating. On Tuesday, detectives saw Ford in the 2000 block of Highview Court in Reno. They tried to contact Ford but he fled the area on foot in an attempt to avoid arrest. After chasing him on foot, Ford was found trying to hide in an open business in the 2600 block of Sutro Street where he resisted arrest. He was eventually subdued and taken into custody.
Ford was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Two officers were also injured and treated at the scene for minor injuries. Ford was taken to the Washoe County jail and booked for resisting an officer and sex offender failing to change address, a felony and his second offense.
