Robberies on Virginia Street

RENO — On Sunday at 9:56 p.m., officers responded to Friends Liquor, located at 354 North Virginia St., on a report of a robbery. A lone suspect had entered the business and approached the employee behind the counter. The suspect produced a handgun from his waistband and demanded cash from the register. The employee gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money at which time he fled on foot. The employee was not injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a white adult male between 20 and 25 years of age. He is about 5 feet 11 inches with a slim build. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt or jacket and dark colored pants. The suspect was reported to have a black eye, however it is unconfirmed which eye.

Three additional armed robberies were committed by a suspect matching a similar description shortly after the initial robbery was reported.  It is unconfirmed if it is the same suspect who committed these robberies.  The additional robberies were at the following times and locations:

• 10:08 p.m. at  Jashan Market, 436 N. Virginia St.

• 11:24 p.m. at 7-Eleven, 3085 S. Virginia St.

• 11:34 p.m. at Ampm, 1390 S. Virginia St.
