LAS VEGAS (AP) — A major road construction project is changing the way drivers get to Clark County route 215 westbound from southbound Interstate 15.

Starting Wednesday morning, drivers must enter an access road just south of Tropicana Avenue to get to route 215 or Russell Road.

Traffic from Tropicana Avenue and Russell Road will be able to access I-15 southbound, I-215 eastbound, and route 215 westbound via the access road.

Traffic heading to I-215 eastbound is not affected by the new configuration.

The one-way access road has a speed limit of 45 mph and includes temporary curves with a 35 mph speed limit.

Transportation officials say the access road is safer because it allows a vehicle to merge or exit from the main road without weaving or interfering with the flow of the faster mainline traffic.
