SPARKS — The Sparks Police Department joined forces with agencies across the nation working the national “Click it or Ticket” campaign. The department received a grant from the Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety to pay for additional officers to be on the streets looking for traffic violators who were not buckled up and for children unrestrained or not properly restrained. The additional officers worked from Nov. 22 through Sunday.

The campaign resulted in two DUI arrests, 36 seat belt citations, three car seat citations, 51 speeding citations, 13 revoked or suspended driver’s license citations, 16 no-insurance citations and 38 miscellaneous citations.

Officers working the event made 134 traffic stops issuing a total of 157 citations plus the two arrests.
