RENO — Today is the last day to register to vote in the Aug. 23 special election, just three days before early voting starts on Saturday. Registration closes at 7 p.m.
To register, complete a new Voter Registration Application in person at the Washoe County registrar of voters office, 1001 E. Ninth St., Building A. Bring a photo ID. The office has extended normal business hours to 7 p.m. today. Check your registration status, polling location and party affiliation online at www.washoecounty.us/voters.
Requests for absentee ballots must be made for every election and are only good for one calendar year. Anyone who received an absentee ballot during the last election must submit an additional request for this election. In Nevada, no reason is required to request an absentee ballot. To request an absentee ballot, contact the registrar of voters office or visit www.washoecounty.us/voters and complete and fax the Absent Ballot Request form to 328-3747 or mail to: Registrar of Voters, P.O. Box 11130, Reno, NV 89520. Requests must be received by Sept. 6.
Early voting for the special election begins Saturday and ends Sept. 9. Voters can cast their ballot at any of the 14 early voting locations. The locations and hours are located in the sample ballot and online at www.washoecounty.us/voters.
