Regional entertainment events have national appeal

The Reno River Festival is an annual celebration of water and the Truckee River. Now in its seventh year, the festival will be held May 7 to 9 in downtown Reno. The Reno River Festival will include the popular Runamuck Race, which is a run through a mud-covered obstacle course. The Reno Film Festival will celebrate its 10th year from June 13 to 20. With five places to see a variety of films, the festival also holds contests for filmmakers who want to submit pieces to the festival. For more information, visit www.renofilmfestival.com.

The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival will start its season July 9 and continue through Aug. 22. This year, the festival will have one performance, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)” as well as the Sand Harbor Music Series held on Monday and Friday nights.
