RENO — The Washoe County School District, in collaboration with Northern Nevada’s Hamilton Solar, has installed solar systems totaling 1.5 megawatts of power at Reed and North Valleys high schools. The solar installation was funded entirely by rebates through NV Energy’s Solar Generations Program.
The savings in electricity costs from the two systems is estimated at $270,000.
The project will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Reed High School from 3 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 2. The public is invited to attend. The solar panel systems double as parking lot shade structures.
