The Silver Legacy will have a blast from the past tonight when midwestern '80s rock band REO Speedwagon takes the stage at the Silver Legacy.

The band that struggled early on to find its niche both musically and as a group from its beginnings in the 1970s has achieved national status with such hits as the No. 1 "Keep on Loving You" and album "Hi Fidelity."

The current members, lead vocalist Kevin Cronin, lead guitarist Dave Amato, base guitarist Bruce Hall, drummer Bryan Hitt and keyboardist Neal Doughty, have traveled a long journey to define the band and its direction with at least 12 different musicians who joined and fell out of the group since its beginning in 1971.

But what's stayed the same are their harmonies and evolution in their rock ballads that will be sure to leave fans lip-synching to favorites such as "Ridin' the Storm Out," "Take It on the Run," "Roll with the Changes" and the soft-rock radio favorite, "Can't Fight this Feelin."

And it's worked for them. The band has produced 17 critically acclaimed albums, scored 13 Top 40 singles and sold more than 40 million records.

“One of the greatest things about seeing REO live is how obvious it is these guys LOVE what they do,” wrote Kim Shockley of about the band’s May 9 show in Kansas City, Mo. “The excitement and energy, the smiles and on stage antics set them apart from other ‘veteran’ bands. They came to please and from the comments made by fans after the show, they definitely succeeded. The meet and greet held after the show was especially memorable for those lucky enough to be a part of it. It is so refreshing to see that these are ‘regular guys’ who put on their pants one leg at a time like the rest of us.”

REO Speedwagon performs tonight at 9 p.m. at the Grand Exposition Hall at Silver Legacy in Reno. Tickets are $50, $60 and $70. For more information, visit
