After the Sky Sox posted a run in the first, the Aces answered with two in the home half of the frame and augmented the lead with a five-run sixth inning to cruise to the win.
After reaching safely four times in his Triple-A debut a night earlier, A.J. Pollock finished 5-for-5 on Friday, including a franchise-high-tying three doubles, three runs scored and an RBI. He has now begun his Triple-A career 7-for-8 at the dish.
Cody Ransom doubled and homered on his way to a three-hit night with four runs driven in. Cole Gillespie, who rejoined the club just prior to game time, came off the bench and singled home two runs in his first plate appearance of the season.
Aces starter Chris Jakubauskas (1-0) dealt Reno’s first quality start of the season, scattering a run on just three hits over six innings of work. Colorado Springs put up a four-spot in the ninth to cut the deficit to four, but they’d get no closer.
Sky Sox starter Guillermo Moscoso (0-1) took the loss, despite holding Reno to two runs on eight hits over five innings.
