SPARKS — On Monday at 4:27 p.m., Sparks police officers were dispatched to the Kohl’s located at 5035 Pyramid Way in Spanish Springs on a report of shoplifting. Officers responding to Kohl’s were advised that the suspects had stolen some merchandise and fled in a U-Haul with Arizona plates. A Sparks police officer responding to Kohl’s saw the U-Haul traveling eastbound on Los Altos Parkway. The officer then initiated a traffic stop on the U-Haul in the area of Ion Drive and Los Altos Parkway.

As the officer approached the U-Haul the driver drove away, which initiated a vehicle pursuit. The male driver of the vehicle was identified as Daryl Davidson and the female passenger was Kelly Bryan. A brief vehicle pursuit through a residential area in the vicinity of Pah Rah and Golden View drives ended when Davidson ran out of road on Muir Pass Court and Cathedral Peak Drive. Davidson and Bryan immediately exited the vehicle and fled on foot in a westerly direction. Sparks dispatch also advised officers that the U-Haul was reported stolen.

Bryan was quickly apprehended and detained by the original pursuing officer, however Davidson continued to flee. With the help of Washoe County K-9 unit and the citizens of that area, police were able to update and position officers in order to keep Davidson contained within that area. With the steady persistence of the Sparks police officers on scene, they located and detained Davidson in the 7200 block of Lindsey Lane.

Bryan suffered an ankle injury when she fled from the stolen vehicle and was taken to Northern Nevada Medical Center where she was treated and released and then transported to the Washoe County Jail. Davidson also was transported to jail.
