CARSON CITY (AP) — Nevada ballots are in the mail to military personnel and residents who are overseas.

Federal law requires overseas ballots to be mailed 45 days before an election.

Secretary of State Ross Miller says Nevada's 17 county clerks and voter registrars confirm the ballots have been sent.

Nevada was named one of fifteen "all-star states" by the Military Voter Protection Project this year for its efforts to ensure military personnel stationed overseas are not left out of the voting process.

Miller earlier this month visited troops in the Middle East to discuss the voting process. He says he assured troops they'd have their ballots on time so their votes would count.
