RENO — In celebration of newly expanded hours of operation, all seven Nevada state museums are offering free Saturday admission July 20. To welcome visitors back, great new exhibits are on display with special programs planned at museums throughout the summer, along with a promotion for the Nevada 150th birthday celebration. Guests are invited to enter to win a Nevada Sesquicentennial, Battle Born – Nevada Proud souvenir license plate. With new days and hours at each museum, you’ll want to check back for the changing exhibits and collections presented throughout the year.

The local state museum is the Nevada Historical Society, Nevada’s oldest cultural institution. It is located at 1650 N. Virginia St. in Reno. Its new hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Admission costs $4, with admission free for members and children 17 and younger.
