CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a woman killed in a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 80 during fierce winds that caused poor visibility.

Trooper Chuck Allen says 52-year-old Susan Carol Sakurada of Winnemucca was a passenger in a Ford F-350 crew cab pickup driven by her husband when their truck slammed into the rear of a big rig stopped for another accident. The pickup was then struck from behind by another tractor trailer.

Investigators say as many as four separate crashes occurred in a short period Friday afternoon. Seven people were injured and one was killed.

The accidents about 20 miles east of Fernley involved 4 big rigs, 4 pickups and one sport utility vehicle.
