At about 9:30 p.m., police received a call from the clerk at the 7-Eleven store at 1260 El Rancho Drive who said the victim of a robbery had come into the store and was bleeding. The victim, a 24-year-old Sparks resident, told police he was walking on the sidewalk just north of the 7-Eleven when he was approached by two men. The suspects demanded to know what the victim had in his pockets and proceeded to threaten him, saying that if he did not turn over his property he would be shot. The victim said he tried to run into the street to get a car to stop for him or to put a car between him and the suspects. The suspects allegedly chased the victim and one of them struck the victim in the face, breaking a tooth and cutting his lips. The suspects then fled in a westbound direction jumping a small brick wall and running into the apartment complex located at 1855 El Rancho Drive. The victim said the suspects also came from the same area to which they fled.
The victim says the suspect who struck him was a Hispanic male in his 20s, approximately 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 with a muscular build and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt and blue pants.
The second suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall with a skinny build. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt and a grey baseball cap.
Anyone who has information about this incident or the suspects is being asked to call the Sparks Police Department Detective Section at 353-2225 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
