Man arrested for sexually assaulting woman

RENO — A man was arrested Saturday for allegedly forcing his way into a woman’s house and sexually assaulting her.

Vallier Tomkins, 43, was found in back of a home in the 2200 block of Wright Street after police responded to a call of a home invasion and sexual assault in progress. Upon arrival they found an adult female victim who told them a man had entered her home, battered her, sexually assaulted her and and then ran out the back of the house. The officers quickly located and took Tomkins into custody at the rear of residence.

Upon further investigation, Tomkins was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Jail on five counts of sexual assault, burglary, false imprisonment, preventing a victim from calling 911 and battery with the intent to commit sexual assault. Tomkins was also arrested for an outstanding failure to appear warrant out of the Reno Justice Court for an original charge of indecent exposure in Reno in 2011.
