RENO — At about 8:50 a.m. on Monday, Reno police officers responded to a motel in the 600 block of West Fourth Street regarding a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers met with several tenants who heard loud noises in one of the rooms, including hearing a woman screaming for help. After receiving no answer at the door, officers forced their entry.

Upon entering the room they found 57-year-old Steven Anthony lying on top of a female victim. Officers pulled Anthony off the victim and noticed the victim was in grave condition. Officers rendered medical treatment until REMSA arrived. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment where she is in critical condition.

Anthony was initially interviewed and released while detectives continued their investigation. On Thursday, detectives located and arrested Anthony for domestic battery, strangulation and false imprisonment. Anthony was booked into the Washoe County jail.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Reno Police Department at 334-2188 or remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at 322-4900.
