Contestants were able to compete in several optional categories in addition to the overall pageant, which consisted of formal wear modeling, an in-depth interview, a personal introduction and community involvement. Alyssa was named to the Nevada Queen’s Court for the top five overall finishers while competing against 95 participants in her age division.
She competed in three optional competitions where she won the casual wear modeling competition, was named second runner-up in the acting competition and third runner-up in the photogenic competition.
According to her mother, Kendall, Alyssa will be heading to the national competition in November and will be looking for sponsors until then. She said Alyssa’s confidence “grew by leaps and bounds” after participating in her first pageant and is excited for the challenge of competing against the nation.
