RENO — A man has been arrested for failure to appear on a warrant after police originally were told he had held a neighbor at gunpoint.

At about 3:15 p.m. Sunday, the Reno police patrol officers responded to what was reported as a residential burglary in progress. It was further reported the resident of the victim apartment was holding the suspect at gunpoint. During the investigation, officers learned the suspect was intoxicated, confused and believed he was visiting a friend’s apartment. Officers spoke with the apartment resident and learned he reported the incident to the manager of the apartment complex and never held the suspect at gunpoint. The intoxicated subject, Ronald Halona, 61, was found in the complex and taken into custody for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Reno Police Department Detective Division at 334-2115, or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
