The National Weather Service issued a freezing fog advisory that will extend until 6 a.m. Tuesday. The advisory cautions drivers that freezing fog will deposit a thin layer of ice on area streets and roads. These icy spots along with lower visibility will create hazardous driving conditions for the morning commute. Motorists may encounter rapid changes in visibility over short distances, the advisory states.

Visibility will frequently be reduced to less than one half mile with a light coating of ice on roads.

The weather service cautions drivers to slow down, use low beam head lights and leave plenty of distance between cars.

The advisory states that freezing fog will persist through 11 a.m. in the Reno and Sparks areas, in Susanville and southeast along U.S. 395 through Lassen County to Janesville and Doyle.
