Shortly after Friday’s shooting left two men injured, Sparks Police arrested supect Luis Santiago Moreno, 23, of Sparks. Moreno, a known gang-member according to police, was stopped by officers on Fourth Street near Richards Way. Witnesses were driven from the Home Suites Apartment complex, 615 E. Lincoln Way, and indentified Moreno as the shooter.

About 30 minues before the arrest, at 4:29 p.m., Malcolm Rodriguez, 24, and Esteban Figueroa, age unknown, were shot in their upper and lower torsos with an unknown caliber handgun, police said. Both were admitted to Renown Medical Center and are expected to recover.

Moreno was charged with two counts of attempted murder with a gang enhancement. The investigation continues as other suspects may have been involved, police said. The shooting is suspected to be retaliation for a stabbing that happened several weeks ago.

The Regional Gang Unit is assisting Sparks Police with the investigation. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or the Sparks Police Department
