RENO — Professional development courses offered by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno provide university-quality educational opportunities to build your career and skills in a wide range of management and business topics, to keep on the leading edge of the latest trends and industry-specific issues and to hone existing talents for career advancement. The following noncredit courses may be taken independently and require no formal admission to the university.
Select courses offered by Extended Studies have been approved or are pending approval for 6-40 recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR or GPHR (Professional, Senior Professional or Global Professional in Human Resources) recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). “How to Work with Legal Counsel” held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the university’s Redfield Campus, 18600 Wedge Parkway in Reno. This advanced one-session senior HR professional development course examines how to work effectively with legal counsel to mount the best defense for your company, offered by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno. This course costs $250, includes parking, lunch and 6 PHR/SPHR/GPHR strategic recertification hours. Instructor: Molly Rezac, J.D.
“Using a Digital SLR Camera: Advanced” held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the university’s Redfield Campus, 18600 Wedge Parkway in Reno. This one-session graphics course is designed for students who have completed the introductory DSLR camera course. Topics include studio lighting, indoor lighting, outdoor photo shoots and using advanced features of DSLR cameras such as histograms and advanced shooting modes, offered by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno. “Workplace Violence: Don’t be Blindsided” held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the University’s Continuing Education Building, 1041 N. Virginia St. in Reno. This one-session professional development course will help you identify the potential for violence in your workplace and will examine security precautions to minimize threats as well as reporting structures for recording incidents indicative of potential problems, offered by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno.
