CARSON CITY — The secretary of state’s office reported Monday that numerous candidates filed to run for various offices in this year’s general election.

• Russell Best filed as an Independent to run for Congressional District 2.

• Nancy Price file as a Democrat to run for U.S. Senate.

• Dean Heller filed as a Republican to run for U.S. Senate.

• John Ellison filed as a Republican to run for Assembly District 33.

• Janine Hansen filed as an Independent to run for Senate District 19.

• Edward Hamilton filed as a Republican to run for U.S. Senate.

• Mark Newburn filed as a nonpartisan candidate to run for the state Board of Education, District 4.

• Ira Hansen filed as a Republican to run for state Assembly District 32.

• Donna Clontz filed as a nonpartisan to run for the state Board of Education, District 2.

• Pete Piocechea filed as a Republican to run for state Senate District 19.

• Danny Tarkanian filed as a Republican to run for U.S. Congressional District 4.

• Tom Grady filed as a Republican to run for state Assembly District 38.

• Jim Wheeler filed as a Republican to run for Assembly District 39.

• Kelly Kite filed as a Republican to run for Assembly District 39.
