Burglar stopped by neighbor

RENO — A burglar who had broken into an apartment being renovated was stopped by a neighbor who complained about the noise.

At 7:15 a.m. Sunday, Reno police officers responded to 250 W. Arroyo St. on a report of a burglary in progress. The residents heard a noise coming from an adjacent apartment that was undergoing renovations. The person who called about the noise went to check the apartment and was attacked by the suspect, Gerald “Chucky” McMaster, 21. After a brief altercation, McMaster was subdued and held by the neighbor until police responded.

McMaster was found to be in possession of stolen property from the residence. He sustained some injuries during the confrontation and was transported to the Renown Medical Center for treatment prior to his arrest.
