“Paper mills are no longer milling the yellow paper, so we are no longer able to get it,” McCaffrey said. “While this change is necessary, it does not impact the Big Nickel as an effective way to connect our readers and our advertisers. We will continue to provide this very popular publication with just a slightly different look.”
Every Thursday since 1967, the Daily Sparks Tribune has delivered the Big Nickel to more than 500 stores and racks throughout northern Nevada and neighboring California, making it an important advertising venue with more than 100,000 readers each week.
McCaffrey also said the company would continue looking for new pick-up locations to make the Big Nickel easily accessible, in addition to being available online.
