The Aces faced a 6-2 deficit entering the final frame, before three-straight singles loaded the bases with nobody out. Wily Mo Peña popped up to the catcher for the first out of the inning, but Andy Tracy followed with a two-run single that cut the deficit to 6-4. Cole Gillespie struck out for the second out of the frame, before Cody Ransom legged out an infield single that drove home another run, bringing the score to 6-5. With the tying run on second base, Mark Hallberg grounded out to the pitcher to end the proceedings.
Aces starter Kevin Mulvey (3-4) suffered the loss, allowing four runs—three earned—on seven hits over five innings of work. Out of the Aces bullpen, Jordan Norberto allowed two runs in his lone inning, and Rafael Rodriguez worked two scoreless frames.
The win went to the first of five Express relievers, Yhency Brazoban, who held Reno scoreless in the fifth inning. Round Rock starter Neil Ramirez tossed four innings, scattering two runs on four hits.
At the plate for Reno, Tracy homered in the fourth, finishing with three hits, three RBIs, two walks and a run scored. Collin Cowgill, Brandon Allen and Pena all collected two hits on the night.
