RENO — A four-hit effort for Konrad Schmidt, two homers by Cody Ransom and runs in each of the first six innings lifted the Reno Aces to a 13-6 victory over the Las Vegas 51s Tuesday in the series opener at Aces Ballpark.

The Aces scored multiple runs in five-straight frames to build a lead that was never seriously threatened. First-place Reno has now won three-straight games and moved to 13 games over .500—a new high-water mark for the 2011 season.

At the dish for Reno, Schmidt finished his night 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Ransom hit solo homers in the first and third innings, while Brandon Allen added a two-run blast in the fourth. All nine Aces starters recorded a hit Tuesday, with seven Reno batters finishing with a multi-hit night.

Starter Barry Enright (6-2) dealt a quality start for the Aces, scattering two runs on five hits over six innings of work to earn his fifth-straight victory.

The loss fell to Las Vegas starter Brad Mills (6-6), who surrendered nine runs—seven earned—on 14 hits through four innings.

The Aces and 51s continue the Silver State Diamond Challenge with a Wednesday matinee at Aces Ballpark. LHP Tom Layne (6-2, 5.27 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Las Vegas counters with RHP Rey Gonzalez (1-1, 5.00 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT.

Tickets can be purchased at the Aces Ballpark Box Office, online at or by phone at (775) 334-7000. A variety of partial season ticket plans as well as prorated full-season tickets are available today.
