Mandela’s death at the age of 95 drew an outpour of political praise, personal admiration and sincere tribute by both Republicans and Democrats. Republican Senator Ted Cruz took full advantage of the opportunity to separate himself from the fascist philosophy of the Tea Party and posted a message on his Facebook, saying that “Mandela will live in history as an inspiration for defenders of liberty around the globe.” Cruz stated that an entire nation is now free because of Mandela’s epic fight against injustice. It looks like Cruz is trying to break away from the Tea Party and rejoin the responsible Republicans in his own party. Has he finally seen the light of GOP?
Cruz received over 5,000 favorable comments on his post. However, many of his Tea Party supporters criticized him for his integrity. Why not? That’s what fascist party members do best.
One comment posted stated “Sad to see you feel this way Ted, he was a terrorist. I guess you have only seen the Hollywood movies.”
Another post reminded Cruz, “Let’s not forget that Mandela called Castro’s Communist revolution a source of inspiration to all freedom-loving people.” But let’s also not forget, Castro was the first international leader to support Mandela when he went to prison to serve a lifetime sentence for his fight for social justice and political freedom. Mandela never forgot his friend and remained Castro’s friend through good and bad times.
And besides, what’s wrong with the recognition of Communism? Republican President Eisenhower sent Vice President Richard Nixon to Communist China to establish better foreign relations between the two countries. Nixon was elected on the platform of his expertise in foreign relations. And, now we depend on Communist China to finance our debt.
This post said, “Sad to see you feel this way Ted, he (Mandela) was a terrorist. I guess you have only seen the Hollywood movies.” Well speaking of terrorist, we were the terrorist when we sent a force to infiltrate Cuba at the Bay of Pigs.
Predicting Cruz’s political future another post stated, “He might as well just let it all out now and let us know who he really is … Can’t support someone who doesn’t know history, accepts the rewritten version, or is willing to risk his base pandering to the politically correct crowd.”
And that sums up the difference between the moderate Republican Party and the fascist of the Tea Party platform that panders to the incorrect crowd that preaches class distinction, state controlled civil rights for women, minorities and immigrants; a political Party that supports a one party system without compromise, their way or the highway negotiation and gerrymandering voting districts, favoring white supremacy.
Maybe Mandela’s death can bring some sense to the extreme right, like Ted Cruz, to follow Mandela’s example of negotiation, forgiveness and peace for people of all walks of life.
