RENO — There’s no place like home for the holidays and Nevada Humane Society is asking for the community’s help in finding homes for 1,200 dogs and cats during the Home 4 the Holidays Pet Adoption Drive through Jan. 1.

Adoption fees for Home 4 the Holidays are $40 for adult dogs (older than 4 months of age and excluding specially priced dogs) and $40 for kittens. Adoptions fees are waived on all adult cats. All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, services that normally cost more than $240. Adopters will also receive a coupon for one free entrée at Qdoba Mexican Grill and a coupon for Blue Buffalo pet food.

In addition, don’t miss out on the many Home 4 the Holidays events at Nevada Humane Society:

Saturday – The inaugural Holiday Tree Lighting at 5 p.m. Enjoy live music by Suzuki Music Association of Reno/Tahoe beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Dec. 14 – Cupcake Day as volunteer bakers compete and guests sample their treats for a small donation. Plus, bring your pet for a professional photo with Santa Paws!

Home 4 the Holidays is a nationwide pet adoption drive now in its 15th year. It was created to move animals out of shelters and into good homes during a season of giving and love.

Nevada Humane Society is open for adoptions seven days a week (except for Thanksgiving and Christmas day) from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and opening at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. The Nevada Humane Society is located at 2825 Longley Lane, Suite B in Reno. For more information about Nevada Humane Society, visit www.NevadaHumaneSociety.org or call 856-2000.
